| Where do I begin? HTML is the language that the web
pages are written in. You can get started with a product like FrontPage and know little or
nothing about HTML. Before long though, knowing HTML will make the difference. There are
several places on the World Wide Web where you may learn about HTML. Beyond HTML, are
general design questions, graphic issues, whether or not to use frames and how to use
them. All this and more is available on the Internet. Here are a couple of good starting
points for you to examine:
A Beginner's
Guide to HTML
Very Good starter document for HTML. Good explanation of HTML tags with examples.
World Wide Web Consortium
This site contains a host of information about the Web. Its completely non-biased. Has
a lot of links to development and policy stuff.
How to Create Web
Services
Straight forward information and lots of links to other relevant sites.
This link appears to be sponsored or influenced by Netscape.
Microsoft Site builder
This site is obviously slanted towards M.S. Products but has a ton of stuff linked in
from everywhere. Its one of my favorite places to shop for web building information and
resources. If you register before September 15, you can download tons of internet and
intra net server stuff. If you just looking for authoring information check out their
"workshop".
Microsoft's Interactive homepage
This is an online version of Microsoft's Interactive Magazine. From what I can tell,
its primary focus is WebPage development. The issue I looked at (9/96) contains IE3.0 page
design tips, ActiveX controls and other WebPage development stuff. I'll include this like
in several areas so that it won't be missed.
Java Anyone
This is Sun's site on Java. Its full of documentation, white papers and of course the
Java Development Kit.
Animated GIF Guy
Want to build you own animated gifs. This guy tells you how, step by step, and provides
links to the software you need to do it.
